Ultrasound is so much more than just for pregnancy and tendon injuries

Ultrasound

We think of ultrasound as used for tendons and pregnancy but it is so much more. From guiding injections to just having a look at things.

I freely admit ultrasound is my favourite toy, sorry tool 😜 we have in the clinic. Having a look at a swelling or a lump offers us so much information to tell what is going on.

This case was a potential joint effusion above the knee but on ultrasound I was able to tell that this is a haematoma due to trauma. So disaster averted and we can manage so much better. That ability to image the deeper structures allows us to know what we can do to manage the issue better.
