Drug Swabbing
We are now able to offer clients drug screening during the pre-purchase examination. We are able to now test for the following drugs:
- Sedatives
- NSAIDS: e.g Bute, Finadyne and Asparin
- Anabolic Steroids
This is a great addition for us to be able to offer our clients. The samples are sent to WA for testing in the racing laboratory using the highest standard of testing available to us.
With testing for drugs we have to take the samples and process them immediately. We are unable to store them for legal reasons. This is due to the chain of command of the sample needing to be maintained for legal reasons.
We suggest that if you would like your next horse checked for drugs that you organise for this to be carried out during the examination and that way you will know within 7-10 days of the results.
